What Should I Do Before My First Visit?
To provide our physicians with the appropriate information to best determine how to treat your child, we
ask that you bring all pertinent previous testing with you to our office visit or have your pediatrician fax
the information to 847-723-9050.  If you are unsure of what test results are needed, contact our office for
assistance. If X-rays have been done we will also need you to bring the films with you at the time of your
visit. Our doctors may order testing.  If you are an HMO, it is your responsibility to be sure you have a valid
referral before getting the requested test(s) performed.

How Do I Get Test Results?
You will receive a call from our office within 10 days of any testing (blood work or x-rays).  If you do not here
from us by 10 days please feel free to call our office.  Biopsy results are given by appointment only.

What If My Child Needs Further Testing?
If your child is scheduled to undergo any procedures such as endoscopy or colonoscopy, as a convenience
to you, we will contact your insurance company for precertification.  Understanding the provisions of your
health insurance coverage and payment’s are your responsibility.  Please check your health plans
requirements carefully.  Procedures are performed at Lutheran General Hospital, St. Alexius Hospital, and
Loyola University providing the proper equipment is available and the site is covered by your insurance
plan.

How Are Phone Calls Handled?
It is important that all problem-focused calls are directed to the nurse. In the event of an emergency, the
nurse can advise you appropriately.  If you have specific questions for the nurse, she will return your call
within 24 hours.  On rare occasions, it may take up to 48 hours for a response.  If that is the case, you
will be notified of the delay.  If you want to speak to the doctor directly, you will be informed of when the
doctor will be in the office for him to return your call.

What if I Need Refills on My Medication?
We will be happy to refill your medication(s) for your child.  It is best if you contact your pharmacy and
have the refill request faxed to us at 847-723-9050.  Please allow 72 hours for all refills to be processed
through our office, keeping in mind that we are closed on weekends and we will not refill routine
medications during weekends. Remember to ask for refills if you come for a recheck.
